How to make a Smooth Photo Skin in Photoshop CS5

This is my first tutorial written in iapdesign.com. Today I will teach you How to make a Smooth Photo Skin in Photoshop CS5. Well there are several ways to do this and you can also try this technique if you find it easier.

This tutorial is easy enough for the beginners who are new to Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Final Result of my tutorial.

So let’s start folks.

STEP 1

First, open your desired image, you can download my image that I use (just click here to download the image) and duplicate your layer by just right click of your background image or for the shortcut ctrl + j. See the image below.

STEP 2

After duplicating your layer, go to the blending mode and set it to Vivid Light. You will notice that the image looks like it burned the skin.

“it’s much easier that you know all the shortcut of every function of Photoshop that makes your work easier and faster”.

STEP 4

In this step we will apply now a Glaussian Blur to see the image after you invert it in the step 3. Navigate now to Filter->Blur-> and select Glaussian Blur, I use in my image radius is 2.5 pixels, you can modify it to match in your image. Applying glaussian blur to an inverted picture will make it look shaper. Use the slider until you can see the pores on her face.

STEP 5

And now we are in the smoothing part of our tutorial. While the image is selected navigate to Filter-> Other-> High Pass. And set the setting like in the image, you can also change it whatever you desired it depends on your image that you use.  But in this image if you notice in the step 4, my setting for the Glaussian Blur radius is 2.5pixels and in the settings of High Pass is 5.0 pixels. This thing makes good result as far as I know. You should doubled the size of the Glaussian Blur and apply it in the high pass setting.^_^.

STEP 6

We are almost done, for the smoothing part of the skin, click the small icon below as you see in the image. It will create a layer mask on the image. After that select the layer mask that is created then get your Gradient Tool or (G) then fill the layer mask with black.

STEP 7

After that bring up your Brush (you should use soft brush only) then choose white color for your brush and start brushing all the pimples that you saw. You need to adjust the opacity of the brush to suit for your image. And that’s all. You can add now different background design for your image. That’s all folks. Thank you for reading my first tutorial.
